Gabriel House of Care's Second Anniversary Celebrated at CLUB BG
Thank you to everyone who attended our CLUB BG event on April 13, at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club. It was a fun-filled evening with great entertainment and dancing. A special thank you to our Honorary Chairs, Jorge and Leslie Bacardi, our Emcee Yvonne Velazquez, morning show host for WEJZ Lite 96.1 FM, as well as our Title Sponsor - BACARDI and Presenting Sponsor - Mayo Clinic. Thank you to all of our sponsors and in-kind donors who supported our event. Click here for a full list of sponsors and in-kind donors.
Congratulations to Donna Goedecke, who is the recipient of the 2013 Christopher Mark Gregory Angel of Hope Award. Donna was honored for her work with organ transplant patients and their families as well as her leadership with the Gabriel House of Care's Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament.
The evening featured live entertainment from Jacksonville's own Jessica Menke, an accomplished vocalist with an extensive classical and jazz repertoire,
and Gary Hunter, a ventriloquist and cruise director on Crystal Cruises' Serenity. Guests also bid on over 40 silent auction items and a live auction was held for a stunning natural pearl diamond necklace and earrings, donated by Hubert Inc.

Volunteers Honored During National Volunteer Appreciate Week
Staff and board members held a special volunteer appreciation luncheon on April 25, to honor and thank the many volunteers who give endless hours of their time to Gabriel House of
Care. We are fortunate to have 193 volunteers who have given over 17,000 service hours since we opened the house in April 2011.
“We are incredibly blessed to have the caliber of volunteers to help us run this house,” said Valerie Callahan, executive director, Gabriel House of Care. “We could not provide the services and support to our guests without our volunteers. They work hard to help out in so many different areas of the house including the kitchen, laundry, front desk, guest rooms, special events and wherever they are needed.”
Volunteers were treated to lunch donated by Carrabba’s and frozen yogurt provided by Sweet Frog. Service pins were given to volunteers who have given more than 50 hours.
